Attorneys Elizabeth “Bess” Battle and Harry S. Allen IV established the law firm of Battle & Allen, P.A. in 2011. Together, Bess and Harry have more than two decades of combined legal experience. They also know the Pee Dee and understand the needs of the people who live here because both were brought up in this part of South Carolina.

About Elizabeth “Bess” Battle

A South Carolina native, Elizabeth “Bess” Battle focuses her practice on all aspects of family law, including divorce, adoption, child support, child custody/visitation agreements and modification and enforcement proceedings. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and went on to receive her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2000. Bess served as a law clerk for South Carolina Circuit Court Judge J.C. “Buddy” Nicholson Jr. of the 10th Judicial District. From 2001-2009, she worked as the Opinions Editor for South Carolina Lawyers Weekly, where she became familiar with important court decisions in state and federal courts, including the S.C. Court of Appeals, S.C. Supreme Court and U.S. District Court.

Bess has also been active in South Carolina politics. Before opening her law firm, she worked as a registered lobbyist for The Palmetto Policy Group in Columbia. She has also served as a Legislative Aide to Rep. J. Cordell Maddox Jr. and as a Senate Page for Sen. Greg Smith.

Bess is a compassionate attorney who knows that dealing with family law issues can be stressful and emotional for clients. She is committed to resolving legal matters sensitively and quickly so that you and your family can have a healthy and happy life together.

About Harry S. Allen, IV

Harry S. Allen, IV is an attorney with experience in real estate transactions, foreclosures, estate planning, criminal defense, bankruptcy, workers’ compensation, traffic law and civil litigation. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1996 and received his juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2000. Harry went on to serve as a law clerk for then-Circuit Court Judge James E. Lockemy, who now serves on the S.C. Court of Appeals. Harry has practiced independently since 2002.

A South Carolina native, Harry is committed to civic and community efforts. He volunteers with both the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the United Way. When he’s not working, you might find him enjoying the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, scuba diving and golfing are some of Harry’s favorite hobbies.

However, when you come to Battle & Allen, Harry’s first commitment is to you. He takes the time to explain all of the important aspects of your legal matters to make sure that you are well-informed and that your rights are protected, no matter what the circumstances.
